Saturday Marisa and I had our Grandmother's Benefactor tickets to go see Wizard of Oz at the Newton Community High School (our high school). I had originally planned on going down for the day but I changed my mind. Sam and I arrived just in time for my favorite lunch ~ porkburgers! Dad came home for lunch so he got to see Sam all dressed up for farming with him.
After lunch Dad headed back to the farm and Marisa and I were off to the Wizard, I mean the play. =) Mom got to babysit. And for those that are familiar with the NCHS musicals, you know they last FOREVER. Marisa and I got home around 5:30 or a little after (it started at 2).
At this point in the day I was still planning on going back home, but after talking with JM I changed my mind. He was not going to be home until super late, if at all. Well, there's no point in going back to an empty house so Sam and I spent the night. We grilled out and had awesome t-bones and ribeyes. Nano and Papo came over just when we sat down to eat, which was perfect b/c they could entertain Sam!
Sam then ate her "supper" and Grandma Kautz has the magic touch for burping Sam; bouncing her on your knee.
ohhhh, ucky burp. YUCK.
But I sure feel better!
Sunday morning, we girls went to church. We picked up lunch at IGA and headed home. Mom wanted to run to town so we went to rural king and of course Wal-Mart. I got the stuff to make the Pioneer Woman's cinnamon rolls and the hams to smoke for our FFA banquet that is on Thursday. While I was there I purchased a playmat for Sam.
She wasn't so sure about it. Though she did hook her finger in one of the toys that hang down, I'm sure it was inadvertently.
We spent our afternoon baking/smoking hams and I started working on the rolls. I was going to let the rolls rise while mom and I ran into town to get pizza. Unfortunately I botched the first batch b/c I was going to make half the recipe but I only halved some ingredients and not the others. DANG IT! It was going to be a late night making cinnamon rolls. I decided to spend the night again b/c JM was certain he was going to sleeping in his office.
Mom and I ran into town to get pizza for them and a sub sandwich for me. Sam doesn't care for pizza or at least she didn't once and I'm afraid to try again. This time I halved the recipe correctly. Mom and I rolled them up at around 10 p.m. WHAT A MESS! I hurried the dough and it was pretty sticky. It should have probably set a little longer or in the fridge overnight at least. Oh well. I baked them while she went to bed and Dad slept with Sam in the chair. The rolls turned out FANTASTIC! but our night was not so fantastic. Sam woke up when Dad handed her over when she was starting to wake up. This was at about 11. Normally at this point she's slept in her little boppy in her bed for about 4 hours and she just gets up to nurse a few minutes. Well since I was busy and her eyes were open Dad entertained her for a little bit. When he went to bed, she started to fuss a little bit. A little bit turned into a lot and she was screamy (yes, I know it's not a real word but it's the one I'm using) and fussy until almost 2. So much for a good night's sleep. The wrath of child off her sleep schedule is not one that I particularly enjoy suffering through. She was up at her usually 7 o'clock all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. I on the other hand looked like one tired momma. I love her.
