Rough Start to an OK Night
Last night Sam and I headed back to bed around 8:30 after she had nursed. She was nice and asleep and I was looking forward to getting a few hours of sleep before she was hungry again. JM came back to bed shortly after and we fell asleep in no time. Sam was up at 10, which isn't too out of the normal. However we were up for almost 2 hours. Fussy Fussy Fussy. She acted SO hungry but would only nurse for a few seconds before jerking her head back which was normally pretty painful for me. She would cry and then do this high pitch whine/squeal that just about breaks my heart. She was not happy but she had a clean behind, she had to have had plenty of milk in her tummy, and she had been in her seat with the vibration on, in the swing in all its different positions and then I decided I would try to rock her. She nuzzled her face into my neck and we rocked which worked for a few minutes and then the fussiness started again and she wound herself up into a full bawl. I for some reason thought to start humming and it worked for about a half hour. Thank Goodness. She loves to lay her head on my chest and listen to my heartbeat and I guess the humming was just that much better. Sam had fallen asleep so I stood up and started slowly making my way back to the bedroom and of course, she woke up and we started over. Once again she acted famished so she nursed some more. After some more nursing ( a lot actually), some majoring burping, and another diaper change (which I think brought us up to 4 - maybe) she was finally content and falling to sleep on her own. And then she was up at 3 and then 5 and then 8. And each time she was up those times she nursed for a short amount of time and then fell right back to sleep. Thank you God - I needed that. Usually she's wide awake at 5 but she went back to sleep so I stayed in bed. That extra 2 hours has been excellent because I didn't need a nap this morning and got a lot of laundry folded. However, I'm ready for an afternoon nap though!
