Whoa Baby!

Literally - Whoooaaaaa baby, whoa.

I welcomed (I use that term loosely) my first contractions.  The first two this morning were more than likely those pesky Braxton-Hicks.  Not painful - just tightness. The last one this morning though was little more more than tightness.  Then this afternoon right after the kids left, my stomach got really tight and hard and it was definitely more than "tightness".  Very deep and achy and it lasted for more than a couple of minutes.

Of course being the first-timer that I am, I called the doctor's office on my way home.  If I had not known that I was 1cm and 1/4 of the way effaced and that her head wasn't RIGHT THERE, I probably wouldn't have worried about it.  I just remembed Dr. Wochner saying "if you start after Sunday we won't stop the labor".  I didn't think I was in labor by any means but I didn't know if this more-real contraction meant I should go in or at least let them know.  The nurse said to make sure that I drink plenty of water and take it easy when I can and as much as I can.  She said that that would be what the ER room or doctor would say if I had came in.  Perfect - no sarcasm what-so-ever is implied.

The phone call made me feel a little better.  I knew it wasn't labor but I also needed to be reassured.  I don't mind starting early, but I do want to make it through FFA week (Feb 22-26).  That and I would just like to go until closer to the due date and be a little more prepared.  Which I'm sure I will think that until the end.  Needless to say though, I am a little more serious about getting my hospital bag packed and making phone call lists.
