On Friday morning, I along with 2 of my students jumped in with Tonya Eich, the Shiloh Ag Teacher, and her kids and we all headed down to Collinsville for the Made For Excellence (MFE) conference. MFE is a FFA conference for freshmen and sophomores. We dropped the kids off and then went on the conference tour of the brand new Waterloo High School. It really didn't look like a high school, more of an amazing junior college. We then had two session to sit through; Biotechnology and Ag Engineering. Those Ag teachers have some really awesome equipment. Then it was back to the hotel. The kids end the night with a big dance and the teachers all stay up until midnight to do room checks. I snoozed and Tonya watched t.v. or maybe snoozed. We were exhausted. The next morning we slept in and it was FANTASTIC! We were up at 8 to get breakfast and then I crashed and didn't wake up until 10. Just in time to pack, get the kids, and head home.
Saturday afternoon was spent lounging with the husband and cleaning a little bit. We ended up running to town for a little grocery shopping and supper.
Sunday: Mom, Dad, and Marisa came up for lunch. We cooked steaks on the grill and they were FANTASTIC! Mom and I did some deep cleaning, which was much needed. Dad and JM were our furniture movers and of course JM was used for his heigth a few times. The dining room now looks like a dining room, which doesn't seem like a big deal but for the past month it was a work in progress. JM and Dad then moved JM's old baby dresser into the baby's room. I had already but some clothes in it but now need to put in the rest. We have been very fortunate to have a few people that have wanted to pass down baby clothes!
Dad and JM ended up doing a tractor drive. Dad does this everytime he comes up and it usually involves a trip over to Birkey's in Oakland.
After their tractor sight-seeing trip the parents headed home and JM and I enjoyed a quiet evening on the couch. I am beginning to become obsessed with quiet evenings at home which is kind of odd. I usually don't like being "cooped-up" in the house all weekend. Lately (past 2 months) all I want to do is get home and stay home and it really doesn't matter what happens.
Baby Update:
Movin' and groovin' are the two words that describe the entire situation. She really enjoys (or hates) oranges because anytime I drink or eat one there is tons of movement. I have read that this is because of all the sugar in an orange. I could stare at my stomach all day when she's moving around. Seeing your stomach jiggle (and not when you're running or doing exercise) is so neat and weird all at the same time.
