35 Week Appointment

Yesterday we had our 35 week appointment. School had been called off and I wasn't too sure about the roads so I called Jamie Wheeler and asked if she wanted to go with me. Of course she did and she even took off work!! =)  Anyways, I pick her up at her house and off we go.  The roads weren't too bad.

We get to the appointment and when you check-in they always give you the little container to give a urine sample.  You know, that's beginning to be a cruel, cruel joke.  Anyways...  They call me back and this time I saw Nicole Wochner and I told her I had brought Jamie and she wanted to hear the heartbeat.  Nicole thought that was so neat and went out to the waiting room to get her right away.  Nicole was taking the heartbeat and Jamie was beside herself - she even had tears! hahaha, I'm used to it so I just grin from ear to ear.  Nicole said that she thought the baby didn't like the want pushing on her because she kept trying to move away.  The heartbeat was 136 and sounded nice and strong.

I had my Strep B culture done and hopefully that comes back negative so we don't have to worry about it.  I asked Nicole if she could tell about how big the baby was getting because at our sono and ultrasounds she was a few days behind.  After some measuring and pushing and prodding Nicole said she was right at average and felt and measured like a 7 to 8 pound baby.  Fantastic!  Nicole also mentioned that she was even head down (which I kind of already knew).  I told her about how in the evenings when she's really active and even sometimes during the day it feels like she's trying to stomp her foot through my cervix.  I knew it wasn't her foot but taht was the best way to describe it.  So Nicole said she would check my cervix for dialation.  WE ARE AT 1 CM!! and 20-25% effaced.  Holly Moly!  She also made the comment that when she was pushing on my cervix she was pushing right on the baby's "noggin".  Nicole kind of giggled and said she was locked and ready and was very very low in my pelvis.  I wanted to say "you're telling me!".

I had started having crazy hot flashes and light headedness (real word?) that morning so I asked about it as my cheeks felt like they were on FIRE and I was stuck to the paper that they cover the examining table with.  Unfortunately I was told that it was hormones and unfortunately a "crappy part of pregnancy".  Greeaatttt.... I'm not kidding, when I got up to get dressed I was literally STUCK to the paper - GROSS. By that evening though the hot flashes really haven't been bad but the light headedness has turned into some dizziness.  When I went to bed I was reminded of a few college nights when for some reason my apartment did some crazy spinning.

I know we could be 1cm for a long time but it's so exciting. When I started out in the appointment Nicole was saying - wow 35 weeks we're about ready to have a baby- and then to hear "1cm" it all seems so close.  Nicole also mentioned that if I were to go into labor Sunday or after they would not do anything to stop it because we are considered full term.  Yikes!  I just need to make it past FFA Week (Feb 21-27) and then I will be completely OK with going on maternity leave.

Today I have my prenatal massage and I can't WAIT!  I will let you all know how fantastic it was when I get back!
