10th Week of Sam

Thursday 20th - Wednesday 26th

Thursday:
I had to stay after school to do detention duty.  Most of the kids had an hour and half sentence - YUCK.  I hate staying that late.  I really don't mind staying a half our or even an hour but anything after that just sucks.

Friday:
Friday was pretty much a worthless day for the kids.  Everyone is on summer break already.  We have finals on Tuesday so Friday and Monday should be review days.  Yea... review day... on a Friday....mmmm-hhhmmmm..
Graduation for Kansas was Friday night.  I'm really going to miss my 6 FFA girls.  They have been such a great help over the past two years and they are leaving a great void.  However, I have strong students in the lower grades so soon enough the void will be filled.  The kids become like one of your own, or at least most of them.  I just hoped I've helped mold them into responsible young adults that have developed more common sense than what they had before graduating.  That is one thing that I remember from my high school ag classes.  Travis always tried to make us understand that using common sense before trying to remember some math equation or some English rule will take less time and normally work out for the best.

The weekend involved Marisa's graduation.  Wow, to think of her graduating seems just crazy.  Seems like yesterday she just started to talk and get me in trouble and it seems like yesterday she was cutting my Barbie doll's hair and chewing their feet.  She and Mom can blame the dog all they want, but I KNOW who chewed the feet.  A seven-year-old's Barbies are not something you mess with. =)
On Saturday we loaded up the camper and headed down only to get to about Kansas and JM realized he left his phones at home.  Turn around.  (A side note:  And... I... get all the grief about forgetting things!) We finally got there a little after lunch. Sam was all dressed up in Camo for the day:

Dad & JM figured out how to rewire some things down at the shed so that we could plug the camper in and run everything in it.  Prior to this we could only plug it in and use the lights and fan.  A camper requires more electricity and you must have a special plug-in and more electricity running to it.  That afternoon Aunt Elaine came over to hang out with Sam. Unfortunately right before she got there Sam had one of her bad belly aches.  She showed Aunt Elaine how loud she could scream.  Sam did fall asleep for a little bit and Aunt Elaine was able to hold her.  Maybe next time I guess...
Elaine left and I made Sam a warm bath.  Mom and I put her in it and as soon as her bare little but hit that warm water she started smiling and cooing.  I think Mom called her a "turd" or something of that nature.  We had been trying our hardest for about 2 hours if not more to make her happy and help her belly and it was just "that simple".  She kicked around in the water for awhile and was only a little fussy after that.
Sunday was a whirlwind of a day.  Sam's schedule was "off" from her belly-ache the day before.  She just wasn't her typical self.  However that morning when she woke up she was doing great.  She laid under her play mat in the living room and showed Mom & Dad how well she could "talk" and how fast she could move her arms and legs.  She put on a good show.  Aunt Nancy showed up and of course nabbed Sam.  Sam was getting kind of fussy and Nancy rocked her right to sleep.  Marisa had to be at the school at 2:20 (graduation started at 3) so Mom, Dad, and Nancy went with her.  JM and I stayed back for awhile to avoid being out in the heat for that long.  When we got there we had to park a long way away.  Fortunately we remembered to bring the stroller.  Sam did great in the heat.  We stood on the black asphalt and as soon as they said Marisa's name and we watched her (inbetween a 100 people's heads) receive her diploma we walked back to the truck.  Graduation didn't last too long and everyone else was close behind us.
The Graduation party was great.  Of course, everyone wanted to pass Sam around and she was not in the passing mood.  I got to spend a good part of the day inside which was ok because it was SO warm outside.  After a bunch of fussing, I stripped her down to her diaper and wrapped her up in her blanket like a buritto.  It worked.  Nancy rocked her to sleep and she was out.  And when I say out I mean O-U-T, out.  She was then the passable baby.  At one point Josie (Steph's, who is a cousin, little girl) wanted to hold Sam. Josie LOVES babies.  So they put her in the recliner and put the boppy on her lap and then put Sam across it.  Josie sat there and watched t.v. and watched Sam.  It was so cute!  When Sam would make the sucking motion in her sleep Josie would look down and rub her face.  It was so cute it made me a little teary-eyed.  ahhhh...babies....   Then we found out that Steph and Jason are expecting their second child!  Josie is going to be a GREAT big sister.

JM and I ended up staying way to late.  We loaded stuff up and got home around 10. YIKES.  Sam slept that evening really hard (like I mentioned above) and then for a good part of the way home.  Talk about a power nap.  She finally went to sleep around 11:30 and didn't get up until 5:15 that morning.  I appreciated it!

Monday at school was a review day and then Tuesday and Wednesday were Exam days, which meant we got out at 2.  On Tuesday I came home and mowed the half of the yard that JM didn't have time for on Monday and on Wednesday I got my haircut and eyebrows waxed.  Good-bye unibrow! =)  I had really forgotten all about it.  YIKES.  All I think about is school, Sam, what I'm fixing for supper, how I'm going to clean the dirty house, and when am I ever going to sleep??
