Strawberry Fest Weekend

Samee and I came down this weekend for the Jasper County Strawberry Festivel.  But first we stopped by JM's work on the way down.  Samee and I took off from Redmon after her morning nap and went through West Union to eat lunch with JM.  He hadn't been home for 3 nights or so.  Samee was pretty excited to see her Daddy and he even had a few minutes to sit down and eat with us.  Then we were on to Jasper County!

That evening Marisa and I took Samee into town to listen to Kylie Phillips sing on the square and since it was supper time we sampled a little bit of "fair food".  We ran into Jacy Ghast and her little girl Lexie.  Lexie even shared a fry with Samee.  Samee then started signing "more, more, more, more" so we went and got her some fries.  It was pretty warm, so we listend to Kyliw while we ate and then walked around the booths on the square.  We couldn't leave without purchasing a few bows from Tawny Ghast's Trendy Twirls.
That evening Samantha slept really well. I had to lay down with her to get her to sleep, but she only stirred once over the night and all I had to do was "ssshhh" and back to sleep she went!

This morning Samantha was up bright and early at 6:30 but that wasn't early enough to go with Papo and Dad to the biscuit and gravy breakfast in town.  During the school year, she would sleep until 6:30 and I would have to really wake her up but now it's summer she's up bright and early at 6.  Figures!  She fought her morning nap even though she was acting pretty sleeping so she only had an hour long nap before the Parade.  We found a shady corner and Grandma & Grandpa Keach joined us.  Samantha did really well with the Parade.  The sirens didn't really bother her.  Only once did she get a little afraid but that was when a the firetruck or something honked it's big horn.  I wasn't sure what she would do with the candy but she was VERY interested in picing up candy.  The funny part was that she would pick up pieces in both hands and then go sit on the blanket and try to eat it.  If I held her little bag, I could sometimes convince her to put the candy in it but she would much rather go try to eat it!

After the parade we all headed up to The Freeze to eat lunch.  I hadn't eaten there in YEARS and it was the same as I remembered it.

That afternoon Mom went to help Dad in the fields.  While Samantha took her afternoon nap, I blew up her little pool and put some water in to warm up.  When she woke up we added a little more water and put her little red, white, and blue swimsuit on.  She really liked it! I can't wait to take her to a big pool this summer!

This evening she was quite the little stinker.  Very whiney and very tired.  I think we really wore her out today.  She sat on her Nana's lap and watched Yo Gabba for awhile and then headed off to bed.  It has already big a big weekend, I wonder what tomorrow will bring!
