What She's Doing Now....

... if you're a Garth Brooks fan you would be able to finish that lyric, but fortunately for you, that is not what this blog post is about. =)

She has recently (in past 2 weeks) has dropped the "ma-ma-ma" business.  Darn it!  She even came to the point where I would say "Samantha, say Mama." and she would!  Now....yea, right.  I've been told that when they drop one skill, they are getting ready to do something else.  Well, I guess it is kind of true.  She is know doing a squealing thing.  She does this high-pitched squeal and then just smiles because she is so proud.  She waves "bye" more consistently and kind of waves "hi", but it is more of a point-at-you type wave "hi".  Bye is definitely a wave but Hi is more like a point and go "ah".  That is a relatively new thing.  She points, very well I must say, and then makes some version of the sound "ah" or "arh".  This is sometimes accompanied by some weird facial expression.
Samantha thinks that clapping is "patty-caking". hahaha.  If you ask her, "can you patty-cake" she starts clapping her hands.  She even does it when she is mad or sad.  It is a little comical to see a fussing, crying 10 month old clapping her hands like she is trying to be happy.
Samantha cruises around the furniture with no problem and is making great reaches from things that aren't touching each other.
Tonight she was standing up at our little table beside the chair and was kind of fussing.  So I just looked at her and said "Samantha, can you patty cake?"  As she was fussing, she moves her mouth into a smile, and then patty cakes.  In order to do this she had to LET GO of the table.  So she just stands there and "patty-cakes" for about 20-30 seconds and then reaches back for the table.  Go Samee Jo!  She looked around at JM and me in a look of amazement, "did I really just do that?".
