This week must have been a good development week. Last week at Mom & Dad's, Samantha had just started to bounce a little when music was played and has perfected it this week. Recently, when the t.v. is on she stands at the entertainment center and dances when commercials or shows play random songs. Sometimes she even tries to sing along!
She has been waving hi and bye for awhile now but not consistently. Well this week I noticed whenever someone put their shoes on or a coat on she started waving, so she is starting to associate signals with actions.
Sometime ago, she was fighting me for my hairbrush so I let her have it and I used my other one. As I was brushing my hair she was trying to mimic me. Now when you hand her a hairbrush and say "Can you brush your hair" or "Brush your hair, Samee", she brushes it. This weekend she has started to brush it backwards like she should instead of forward into her face.
JM and I went vehicle shopping on Saturday and Samantha stayed with Papa Jim and Marcy. When we picked her up Marcy was eating some garlic bread and Samantha crawled up to her, pointed at her food and went said "Ahhh!". She then became insistent that Marcy shared.... it sounds cute at first, really it does. However, when you have something she shouldn't or can't eat, it makes for a scrambling Momma or Daddy, trying to find some sort of food to give her so she thinks she has what we have.
Anymore, regardless of how messy, I have been letting her feed herself. Shells and cheese are probably the messiest. I have purchased a few toddler meals that come in their own little container that you microwave. I tried the Gerber brand this week and the shells and cheese are a real winner. Really messy for her to finger feed herself, but she enjoys it. Some days she is pretty insistent on feeding herself, other days I can feed her one finger food and spoon feed her in between bites. She loves green beans and peas, absolutely loves them. She also really likes blueberries and strawberries. I tried to give her fresh pineapple but she slurps on it and it shoots down her throat. Doesn't make for a good situation. She likes the taste, but can't quite handle the toughness of it yet.
Samantha's big tooth bump has pretty much gone away now. She has a little hard not but it isn't swollen and huge anymore. Maybe the tooth will pop through any day since the swelling went down??? or maybe we have to go through another round of the swelled gums and grouchiness?? Not sure, but as of yet she is still "Toofus". I'm sure at this point, you may be going "Toofus"????? Yes, Toofus. Kind of like toothless but different. I think JM started calling her that and she would giggle and giggle and giggle. So it stuck.
Her knew thing this week has been laying on her back and playing. I guess I hadn't realized how she didn't normally do this. I think she associated laying on her back with sleeping and God forbid we do that! Anyways, this week she has been grabbing a toy and laying on her back and playing with it for a few minutes. Then Samee discovered she could pull her legs up to stomach and have her feet touch her nose and then kick with all her might. She will just giggle when her heels slam into the floor... I would think it hurst, but I guess not!
Also this week, when JM or I lay on the floor she likes to crawl ontop and over up. Samee tends to think we are her personal jungle gym. I think we kind of enjoy it.
