Our first Boo-Boo

Once Samantha learned how to crawl, she was almost immediately putting both hands on something above her eye level.  She quickly moved to pulling up to her knees and attempting to stand up.  In the past week or so she has been pulling up to her feet but didn't grasp the concept of holding on, or she just didn't want to.  Unfortunately, just because she didn't want to, didn't mean she should.  Then in the past 3 days she is pulling up to shorter things, like my legs on when I am sitting on the floor or poor, poor Maizey.  Samee crawl up to either one of us, brace herself and get her knees underneath her and then let go and kind of do some variation of bouncing.  She then quickly realized she could get her feet underneath her body and has been trying to straighten herself to stand up and let go of me or Maizey.  We're very close to standing on our own.

She LOVES our entertainment center.  It has two cabinet doors on either side and 2 shelves in the middle.  The shelves are fun to pound on and better yet use toys to bang on.  The glass cabinet doors are really fun because there are lights behind them and there are knobs on them.  The doors do not open easily so it is a challenge to her to one day open them.  Last night she was on her knees infront of them and was reaching for the knob because she was on the opposite side of the door then the knob.  I'm not really sure how it happened because I looked away and then heard this big bang.  In the fleeting second, I realized it was her hitting the door but then thought, hmm must not be too bad because she isn't crying.  Well that is because it left her breathless and she was struggling to breathe in to prepare the blood curdling scream that was about to come.  She "bonked" the left side of her forehead pretty good on the little oblong-shaped knob.  So I took her into the kitchen to get into better light all the while telling her "You're ok.  You're big stuff. " and acting all happy.  Which as a side note I think is a total double standard.  As parents we try to act like it's no big deal and laugh about it so they don't instantly cry.  I get that part b/c once you act scared they do and then end up doing it for that reaction.  But can you imagine being them and having your "go-to person" acting all happy happy when you really do hurt really bad.  I mean, come on!  ANYWAYS....  I knew we needed to put ice on it.  She had a little scrape and it was already a good goose egg and kind of purple(ish).  That, let me tell ya, is a JOKE.  So I bribed her with the her favorite thing... the remote!  She played with it while I kept putting a cold rag on her "ouchie".  She soon forgot about it.  This morning it was still a little bump and a just slightly bruised.  Of course, she could care less.

The past couple days have been kind of rough.  Samantha hasn't been eating very well at all, is a little red in the face, and just plain fussy in the evening.  Today though she ate like crazy for Joy and JM (I had FFA stuff after school).  She had also been kind of congested so maybe she was trying to take a cold and now she is over it.  I hope so .. I don't want a sick baby!
