Today JM and I went for our 20 week appointment. I had to go with a full bladder for the sonogram so that the bladder pushes up the ulterus. This makes it easier to see everything. Not as easy a task as what I thought it was going to be. It's a hard choice to decide whether to go or not in the afternoon =) - I was afraid there wouldn't be enough for later; what a goofy notion.
Anyways - we get there, check into radiology & x-ray, and go back with our technician. She gets right to work and baby isn't being to cooperative. Baby basically stayed in the same position, which was crouched, sitting on her feet, kind of like a frog. We got a very good look at the face at that point thought - baby was looking right at the 'wand' and opening and closing its mouth. We all three were giggling because the baby was being so stubborn and it kind of looked like it was laughing at us. The technician worked around and took measurements for about 20 minutes and kept waiting for the baby to move so we could see boy or girl "parts".
The technician then had me go to the bathroom. We were hoping that this would make room for the baby to move around a little bit and be more comfortable. At first it didn't work, but then we got some leg movement which is what we were looking for. One leg stayed down in "Indian Style' and the other leg was straight up to wear the toes were in the baby's face. The chord was then wrapped around that region and the other leg is still in the way. Talk about flexible! But regardless still no "money shot". The baby's hands and feet were flexing around but still being very modest. Then all of a sudden the other foot goes straight up so the baby was pretty much bent in half. Thank goodness. The technician then pointed out the 3 "dots" that indicate what the sex of the baby was. She had thought she had seen them a few times before but just couldn't be sure.

So what do you think it was....................................
It's a girl!! Stubborn or modest - she finally showed us what we were looking for. Everything looked very healthy. The spine was closed, the brain, heart, stomach, kidneys, etc were all normal. Of course the technician isn't the Doctor but nothing looked abnormal and like I hope I've describe enough , =), everything was moving around and flexing. The cutest part was that mouth opening and closing like she was laughing at us for trying to see her "parts". JM and I both couldn't quit smiling.
